Unit 2 of the Karachi nuclear power plant in Pakistan was connected to the grid

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, on 18th March, 2021 (PKT), the first overseas HPR1000 project — Karachi Unit 2 in Pakistan has been connected to the grid successfully for the first time, and officially entered the grid-connected commissioning stage. During the connection process, the equipment parameters were stable and all operating indicators met the technical requirements with good condition. Its provisional acceptance and commercial operation is scheduled in the middle of this year.
The grid connection is a significant milestone in the construction of Gen-III nuclear power technology HPR1000 outside China, and a major achievement made as we deepen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and China-Pakistan nuclear energy cooperation.
